How to Add your Own Backlighting
The first Screenshot shows the original image.
Screenshot 2: Extract your subject from the Background (I used Select & Mask). On your extracted Layer, go into FX and add an Inner Glow. Change the Blend Mode to Color Dodge and alter the option sliders until you are happy with the effect. You can also try other blend modes (Overlay and Soft Light work well).
Screenshot 3: Refine the effect by adding a Layer Mask. You can also add extra layers between the Background and Extracted subject layers to paint in light.
